35 CSGO Pros Banned By ESIC for Betting Offences

In an official statement released on 22nd January, the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) has confirmed banning 35 CSGO pros for betting offences in violation of the ESIC Anti-Corruption Code.

“Sanctions issued in today’s release are not for matching-fixing,” ESIC clarified in a follow-up Tweet. “However, ESIC is of the view that there is a high possibility that it will issue match-fixing charges arising from the ongoing investigations, potentially including against players sanctioned today.”

Some of these cases, as mentioned by the ESIC themselves, included players who indulged in “collusive behavior” and leaked details of fixed games with third-parties for them to place bets instead.

Furthermore, the ESIC has also announced an extension on the ban of two players that was previously sanctioned in October 2020.

The banned players were in violation of Article 2.2 of ESIC’s Anti-Corruption Code and ESEA’s standing MDL tournament rules.
