Vitality’s apEX has decided to sit out for the remainder of the ongoing Blast Spring Premier Groups, the french side announced today on Twitter.
In a TLDR, coach Rémy “XTQZZZ” Quoniam stressed about the situation where he spoke about apEX’s personal issues including the Coronavirus pandemic culminated into the former taking a break from competing. It has been mentioned by the coach that he will be sidelined for the rest of the Blast Spring Premier Groups tournament, but the period of apEX’s break might be extended as per his requirement. The coach further shed light on Dan’s importance within the team where Team Vitality would respect his well-being and eventually allow him to transition with a total mental reset.
The French side also placed before their desire to have the 27yo veteran back on the roster as soon as possible.
In a statement, XTQZZZ added,
“Unfortunately for our captain apEX, personal problems have added to all this. In order to ensure our duty as a club and as a coach to protect our athletes, I have made the decision to give apEX some breathing space during the entire BLAST Premier Spring. The period will be extended if necessary to respect his well-being and to ensure that he comes back refreshed and in full control of his craft. His role within the team is essential and we hope to see him back with us at his best as soon as possible.”
Dan recently had steered Vitality to a runner-up finish at the BLAST Global finals where the french side was denied the championship by Natus Vincere, as the Aleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyliev led side clinched the grand finale, 2-1.
He continued,
“We will also continue to innovate and work to find solutions to enable our athletes to evolve in an optimal physical and mental environment that is ever more conducive to maximum performance. There is no giving in, ever.
Vitality will lock horns against EG tonight in the Group B Lower Bracket Final, scheduled to start at 12:00 AM IST.
