Astralis’s fate in the tournament
Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander and his men brought in some amendments after they were stunned by Godsent in the opening round. Toppling Liquid today did earn a chance to lock horns with the winner from G2 Vs FURIA in the Lower Semi-Finals Bracket.
Team Liquid
With yet another tournament exit previously followed by their Blast failure, Liquid might need to question their strategies big time.
Trivia: CS:GO servers experienced a downtime which delayed the start of the second map.
Astralis vs Team Liquid Map 1: Vertigo
Starting out on the Terrorist side, Team Liquid won the pistol round and the following anti-ecos to get out to a 3-0 lead. But once Astralis got money to work with, they somehow started getting rounds on the board to close in the deficit thanks to Emil ‘Magisk’ Reif’s consecutive 3K streak in rounds 10 and 11.
But with a little room for errors, Michael “Grim” Wince and Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken were able to stop the bleeding and steered Liquid to finish 10-5 in the first half.
The defensive side on Vertigo saw a closely contested second half for Team Liquid as Astralis edged near to rounding off the deficit for yet another time, this time with Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth doing the honors after the latter clutched out a post plant 4K.
Astralis vs Team Liquid Map 2: Inferno
The second map began with Astralis wreaking havoc on Inferno. Utilizing their momentum from the first map, the Danish team jumped out to an 8-2 lead as Liquid struggled to keep up with the pace set by their opponents after Nicolai ‘device’ Reedtz came out with all of his guns blazing.
But Liquid refused to throw in the towel and started crawling their way back into the game which saw them put 5 rounds on the board credits to Grim’s valiant efforts to lock the charging T’s out of the sites.
Coming into the second half with a healthy lead, Astralis refused to take their foot off the pedal and quickly put the game away as they sent the North American Organization packing out of the DreamHack Masters Europe.
