dev1ce to sit out BLAST World Finals, phzy to continue as main AWP

Nicolai ‘dev1ce’ Reedtz continues his recovery from an illness that made him sit out of the IEM Winter Playoffs as well. Love "phzy" Smidebrant from Young Ninjas will take his place again.

Ninjas in Pyjamas will have to make do without their star AWPer ‘dev1ce’ once again for the final tournament of the year – BLAST Premier World Final. Dev1ce also had to take time off from playing in the IEM Winter playoffs due to an illness and doctors have advised him to do the same for the rest of the year.

NiP will also be playing with Jonas Gundnersen as coach, while ‘THREAT’ transitions into a more organizational role for his side.

NiP beat G2 in the semis of IEM Winter but lost to ZywOo and Team Vitality in the Grand Finals in a clean 3-0. They will face G2 again in the first game of the 1 Million dollar event which is set to take place in a studio LAN at Copenhagen, Denmark. There will be no crowd here unlike the Fall finals where NaVi took home the trophy.

The other teams participating at World Finals are :

  • Natus Vincere
  • Gambit
  • G2 esports
  • Team Liquid
  • Astralis
  • Team Vitality
  • Heroic
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas

For this even NiP’s roster will be:

  • Fredrik “REZ” Sterner
  • Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora
  • Hampus “hampus” Poser
  • Patrick “es3tag” Hansen
  • Love “phzy” Smidebrant (stand-in)
  • Jonas “calc” Gundersen (substitute coach)
