Tournament organizer and Gaming company, ESL announced on their broadcast of ESL Pro League Season 15 that they will be donating $125,000 USD to Ukraine for Disaster Relief. Ukraine was invaded by Russian troops on the morning of 24th February 2022, and the conflict is on its 16th day at the time of writing, with little to no resolution.
As per the announcement from ESL, members of the Louvre Agreement, meaning leading CSGO teams and ESL Gaming have agreed to pool $125,000 to be donated for Disaster Relief in Ukraine. The relief services will include UNHCR, MSF, Amnesty International, and The Red Cross.
This isn’t the first instance of people in esports donating to Ukraine as just last week, NAVI CSGO Pro Aleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyliev donated $33,000 to the Ukrainian Army. He was deeply affected by the invasion, as expected since he is a native of Kyiv and his city was being shelled while he was in Poland for IEM Katowice 2022.
The Louvre Agreement started in February 2020 states “ESL and a select group of elite teams to participate in the Pro League on an ongoing basis (“Partner Teams”) are collectively working around the ESL Pro Tour events in CSGO to improve monetization and to establish a new governance model around ESL Pro League. As part of the Louvre Agreement, all parties enter into certain commitments in return for sharing governance and financials of the tournaments described herein.”
The partner teams that will be donating to Ukraine are – Astralis, BIG, Complexity, Evil Geniuses, ENCE, FaZe Clan, Fnatic, Furia, G2 Esports, Mousesports, Natus Vincere, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Team Liquid, Team Vitality.
