ESL World Rankings CSGO – December 2021

With the final ESL event of the year, IEM Winter, done and dusted it is time to take a look at how the teams rank up in the ESL World Rankings.

Currently, the biggest Tournament organiser in Professional CSGo – ESL conducts multiple tournaments throughout the year, with the most prestigious being IEM Katowice, IEM Cologne (Previously ESL ONE: Cologne) and 2 seasons of ESL Pro League.

The results of these events have a direct impact on the ESL World Rankings and with DreamHack events under ESL’s banner during 2021, they too had a part to play in the standings.

As updated on 13th December, teams on the ESL World Rankings stand as:

  • #1 – Natus Vincere – 2579 pts
  • #2 – Team Vitality – 2089 pts
  • #3 – G2 esports – 1284 pts
  • #4 – Ninjas in Pyjamas – 1230 pts
  • #5 – Gambit- 1022 pts
  • #6 – Heroic – 910 pts
  • #7 – Virtus.pro – 838 pts
  • #8 – Team liquid – 631 pts
  • #9 – FaZe Clan – 615 pts
  • #10 – Astralis – 595 pts

NaVi are a class apart at the top with the stellar year they have had. Winning the Intel Grand Slam Season 3 was a major contributor to that as they won IEM Cologne, DreamHack Masters Spring and ESL Pro League S14, all in 2021 to bring them to the top. They also finished #2 at IEM Fall RMR.

Vitality with their IEM winter win were ZywOo was the MVP, boosted themselves up to #2 with 2089 points, and a runner up spot as EPL S14 helped as well in what has been a dismal year otherwise.

G2 esports continued their trend of making it to the finals and falling at the final hurdle, especially at IEM Cologne. They finished in the top 6 at IEM Fall RMR as well and were semi-finalists at IEM Winter to maintain their top 3 spots.

NiP after the addition of dev1ce won their first IEM event in the form of IEM Fall RMR. combined with a finals finish at IEM Winter, they stand at #4 in the ESL World Rankings.

The second-best team of the year in both CS:GO and Valorant – Gambit esports finish the year at #5. They won IEM Katowice 2021, IEM Summer 2021, made the finals of EPL S13 and won IEM Fall CIS rmr to gain 1022 points and remain in contention for the best team title with NaVi for 2022.

The final ESL event has wrapped up and except for decay, there won’t be any major changes to the ESL World Rankings any time soon. The next ESL event would be IEM Katowice 2022 which will start from February 15th to kick off the new season of Professional CS:GO.
