FaZe Clan announced via Twitter that they have completed the signing of Robin ‘ropz’ Kool to their CSGO roster. The first reports of his transfer were published by 1pv.fr and Dexerto in mid-December, signalling towards a move to FaZe Clan.
He then parted ways with MOUZ right at the end of the year, despite having a few months still left on his contract. With this move, it is assumed that Olof ‘olofmeister’ Kajbjer will be moved to the bench, while ropz will take his place in the active roster. Although, this is yet to be confirmed.
Ropz was a part of mouseports for almost 5 years and won a plethora of trophies with them. Joining them in early 2017, and being part of their ESL One: New York 2018 run. He also won ESL Pro League Season 10 finals, Flashpoint 3 and cs_summit 5 as part of different renditions of the roster.
Surprising as it is, FaZe Clan will be ropz’s second-ever professional CSGO team as before mouseports he hadn’t played on a professional level. He was scouted from FPL – Faceit Pro League circuit first and was signed by mouseports at a time when it wasn’t common to pick players up straight from FPL.
But it turned out to be a great signing as he took MOUZ to the next level and cemented himself as their superstar player.
Ropz has only gone from strength to strength at MOUZ, placing 19th in 2018, 11th in 2019 and 7th in 2020 in HLTV’s world rankings of top 20 players.
He will be reunited with former IGL Finn ‘karrigan’ Andersen, under whom he played some of his best CS, winning ESL Pro League Season 10 finals in the process in 2019. It will be interesting to see this new iteration of FaZe Clan after a turbulent 2021 saw them go trophyless and only manage a top 4 placing 3 times throughout the year. This was slightly underwhelming as the return of ‘karrigan’ coupled with the signing of Russel ‘Twistzz’ van Dulken had fans hoping for better performances.
