Junior loaned out to Bad News Bears for ESL Pro League Season 14

The AWPer will once again play under the guidance of Alan "Shakezullah" Hardeman, but this time at Bad News Bears.

Paytyn “junior” Johnson has been loaned out to Bad News Bears for the upcoming ESL Pro League Season 14, Brazilian side FURIA confirmed it today on Twitter. As reported earlier by HLTV.org, junior will step in for Peter “ptr” Gurney who retired from the game on Tuesday and will resume his sniper duties on the team.

Earlier in June, Junior stepped down from FURIA’s active roster citing communication and burnout issues during his time with the team. Head coach Nicholas ‘guerri’ Nogueira further added that junior would travel back home in order to reset his mental form and would be placed on the bench until the 20-year-old North American feels 100% to compete again with the Brazilian squad.

FURIA has reportedly agreed to loan out junior on a short-term basis, which would probably be valid just for the ESL Pro League Season 14 tournament as there have been no further updates regarding the current loan contract between Bad News Bears and FURIA.

At Bad News Bears, Paytyn will replace Peter “ptr” Gurney who earlier retired to pursue his career in Poker, full time and would reunite with Shakezullah and Gabe “Spongey” Greiner, the likes of whom he played with under Triumph across 2020. Bad News Bears will kick off their debut with junior at the upcoming ESL Pro League Season 14, scheduled to start from August 16, and have been placed in the tournament’s Group A where they will lock horns with Heroic, Vitality, and Astralis. The matchups of the same are yet to be revealed by the event organizer.

Bad News Bears now have:

  • Jonathan “Jonji” Carey
  • Michael “Swisher” Schmid
  • Gabe “Spongey” Greiner
  • Alan “Shakezullah” Hardeman
  • Paytyn “junior” Johnson (on loan from FURIA for ESL Pro League Season 14)
  • Nathan “madcow” Retterath (Head coach)
