Ninjas in Pyjamas Sign Brollan to CSGO Roster

The 19-year-old will leave Fnatic after spending more than 3 years with the org.

Ninjas in Pyjamas CSGO announced the signing of 19-year-old rifler Ludvig ‘Brollan’ Brolin via twitter today. The swede will be donning the Ninjas in Pyjamas jersey in place of who is now moved to the bench. About a week ago there were reports of NiP planning a $680,000 bid for Brollan, which is now confirmed by the signing although the exact transfer fee is still unknown. Fnatic too played in the first Open qualifier for the PGL Antwerp RMR with academy players peppzor and regali in place of Brollan and smooya.

Brollan has been a part of Fnatic since October 2018 and has only gone from strength to strength in the time he has been there. Together with Fnatic he won many trophies, including DreamHack Malmo 2019 and ESL Pro League Season 11 Online. He was also a top 20 player for 2 years, placing at #19 in 2019 and #15 in 2020. He missed out in 2021, mainly because Fnatic had a dismal year and could not win any trophies or have any high placings throughout the year, despite Brollan having a 1.10 rating in the year.

Ninjas in Pyjamas, on the other hand, have had problems of their own even after the superstar signing of Nicolai ‘dev1ce’ Reedtz from Astralis in early 2021. They could only win IEM Fall 2021 and barely made it to the playoffs of PGL Stockholm 2021. A lot of it was down to an ever-changing roster, which featured academy members ztr and LNZ before they finally signed es3tag from Complexity.  dev1ce himself has been out of action since December 2021 and his place has been taken by phzy.

NiP have not yet announced whose place it’ll be that Brollan will be taking on the active roster. It is likely that Nicolas ‘Plopski’ Gonzalez Zamora will be benched to make way for Brollan, but an official announcement is still awaited.

“I’m excited to take the next step in my career with NIP,” said Brollan. “I go way back with some of the players and I really feel like it’s time to lift some trophies together.

It will be interesting to see whether the signing of Brollan is the push that NiP needed, to start winning trophies again. Brollan will not be able to play his first game with NiP at ESL Pro League Season 15 due to roster regulations in place and will be joining the camp in time for the European RMR for PGL Antwerp Major. NiP are placed in Group B of the European RMR and will vie for a spot at the PGL Antwerp Major from April 21-24. Meanwhile NiP have already qualified for the playoffs at EPL S15 and will be continuing their journey without Brollan for the tournament.

NiP’s CSGO roster is now:

  • Fredrik “REZ” Sterner
  • Hampus “hampus” Poser
  • Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora
  • Patrick “es3tag” Hansen
  • Love “phzy” Smidebrant
  • Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin
  • Daniel “djL” Narancic (coach)
  • Nicolai “device” Reedtz (medical leave)
