NRG Esports have received eleventh and second-last invite for one of the most prestigious event throughout the calendar — ESL One: Cologne. The list of actual contenders is beforehand stacked up due to the presence of Astralis, FaZe Clan, ENCE eSports, MIBR and Natus Vincere.
However, one more invite is pending with the organizers and remaining four teams will qualify through regional qualifiers.
ESL One: Cologne will be held from July 02-07 at Lanxess Arena with $300,000 on the line. Sixteen tesms will be divided into two groups on the basis of ‘ESL World Rankings’. Initial matches will be best of one while rest of the matches will be best of three encounter.
Top three teams from each group will advance to playoffs. Group stage winners will directly advance to semi finale while second and third placed teams from each group will clash in quarter finale. Playoff matches will be played live at Lanxess Arena in front of fans.
NRG Esports seemed quite lackluster at IEM Major: Katowice 2019 as they placed 15-16th. However, after the addition of Tarik ‘tarik’ Celik, North-American lineup got back on the track. Damian “daps” Steele and co. secured 3rd-4th position at IEM: Sydney 2019 and StarSeries i-League Season 7. Their addition makes this event even more stacked.
