Cédric “RpK” Guipouy on Twitter announced his retirement from CSGO, putting an end to his 14 year-long illustrious career in the same league comprising the game’s previous iteration, Source.
Before signing up for Team Vitality in 2018, RpK represented a plethora of teams competing in CSGO, having started his career with VeryGames in the second half of 2012. RpK went around switching teams between G2 Esports, Team Envy, and, in the end, Vitality where he was able to reclaim his prime form, the likes of which were witnessed during his career in Source.
DreamHack Open Atlanta saw RpK and co win the event, their first one under the Vitality banner only to be followed by six more championships, notably at the Cs_summit season 4, ECS Season 7 Finals, and EPICENTER in 2019. Vitality’s triumph at the ECS Season 7 finals was RpK’s second charm following his previous win at the Inaugural iteration of the same.
A string of bland results saw RpK place himself on the bench at Vitality, only to see the 32-year-old veteran retire from competing.
In his farewell message on Twitter, he said,
