Astralis will not be playing with Danny ‘zonic’ Sorensen as their fifth after all. The Danish organization has announced the capture of Marco ‘Snappi’ Pfeiffer, formerly of Heroic, to replace Andreas ‘Xyp9x’ Hojsleth in the active lineup. Along with this announcement, Xyp9x has released his statement explaining his decision to leave.
The clutchmeister credits burnout and stress-related issues behind the decision but has failed to put a time stamp on when he is going to be back on the server, much like Olof ‘olofmeister’ Kajbjer did in his explanation behind the decision to step down from the FAZE active lineup.
Snappi is inherently an IGL but has experience of playing under other IGLs, which would make the options of Emil ‘Magisk’ Reif retaining the IGL duties or Snappi being handed the temporary reign seem feasible for Astralis.
With two changes already to the active lineup and an 8-man roster, for now at least, to boast, it’s back to the drawing board as zonic figures out a way to get the engine going smooth and in time for the upcoming events.
