Stewie2k Reveals His Plans for 2022, Exploring Valorant and More

The North American superstar’s interview offered various insight.

American Professional CSGO player Jake ‘stewie2k’ Yip did an interview with Dexerto.com where he talked about what he would like Valve to remove from the game and his plans for 2022. The interview was a rapid fire questionnaire where Stewie2k answered 20 questions. We picked the best ones for you.

Stewie2k has begun his new journey in CSGO with his new team – Evil Geniuses. Evil Geniuses’ CSGO roster had been incomplete after they benched oBo, MICHU and stanislaw after the PGL Major. Going into 2022, they retained Brehze and Cerq and decided to build around them. Stewie2k joined as IGL after his 3 year stint at Team Liquid where he was the secondary caller a lot of times, and even the primary one towards the end of 2020.

Alongside Stewie2k, Autimatic joined EG after leaving T1 valorant and former Complexity Gaming pro RUSH joined as well to complete the Cloud9 Major winning trio once again.

When asked about what other esports Stewie2k would like to go pro in, his answer was as confident as can be. Jake said ‘If I put my mind to a thing, I could go pro in anything. Valorant, no doubt, CS, i’m already here…other games would probably take some time getting used to’.

Stewie2k isnt the only one who would consider going pro in Valorant as in a similar interview, s1mple also said that Valorant is a possibility after he is done with CS.

Coming to CSGO, Stewie2k revealed what he hated about the game and what Valve should remove from CSGO. In a jiffy, he said “Ancient…I think it’s not ready to be competitive yet and they (Valve) more so use us (players) to kind of test the map a little bit. I feel like Ancient is not fully developed yet.” which isn’t surprising as some pros are still getting used to having Ancient in the map pool and are critical of it.

On his plans for 2022 Stewie2k said “I feel like the next season starts very soon, like it’s just literally right around the corner. So I can have some time for myself and get prepared for the next season, to start fresh.“ This was of course, before he had joined EG and was optimistic about their future going into 2022.

But things haven’t been going swimmingly for them come 2022, EG bombed out of  BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2022, losing all 3 of their games. They took a map off BIG with ease and  also cut it close with Team Liquid, losing in Overtime. But their North American counterparts were not better off either as all 3 NA teams – Team Liquid, Evil Geniuses and Complexity Gaming crashed out in last place and will play in the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown.

What the rest of 2022 holds for Stewie2k and Evil Geniuses CSGO remains to be seen.
