On October 27th, CD Projekt Red announced a delay in the release of the heavily anticipated action RPG Cyberpunk 2077. The release date was postponed by three weeks from November 19th to December 10th. This move has resulted in some hefty criticism from a part of the fanbase, but it appears like some people went a step further.
Previously, Cyberpunk 2077 was scheduled to be released in April 2020. The release was initially postponed till September, which was rescheduled once again to November.
While the repeated delays in the release date are certainly disappointing news for the fans, it can’t be a justification for the actions of what a certain group of people are using to express their discontent – sending death threats to the devs.
“I understand you’re feeling angry, disappointed and want to voice your opinion about it,” said Andrzej Zawadzki, Senior Game Designer at CD Projekt RED. “However, sending death threats to the developers is absolutely unacceptable and just wrong. We are people, just like you.”
Luckily, a good number of people are accepting the delay in the release and showing their support to the devs who are working hard in these tough times to live up to the fans’ expectations regarding the game.
“We all know it will be worth the wait no matter what. Take your time,” says theRadBrad, a gaming content creator on YouTube.
