Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red’s most hyped RPG title, had seen an exponential rise in its player-base right after its launch. With 1 million concurrent players on steam in December, the Polish video game developer sold over 13 million copies of Cyberpunk at its launch.
But soon later, things seemed to enter a decadence for the game as the community came across a plethora of In-game bugs and performance issues. Players across the console platforms like Sony’s Playstation along with Google’s Stadia started to demand refunds amidst multiple performance issues occurring within the game.
According to data from githyp.com, Cyberpunk saw a dip in its player base which has accounted to just 225k active players since the past weekend.
This is the first time we witnessed a Triple-A rated game suffer a huge setback right after the launch. The aftermath also led to Sony withdrawing the title from its Playstation Store along with issuing refunds.
When compared with CDPR’s last major title, The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 has had the most dubious start. Post launch, it took The Witcher project to get a dip of 79% in its player base which the newly launched RPG has already come across. As discussed earlier here on TalkEsport, CDPR might soon find themselves in another quandary, a class-action lawsuit.
