Refund for Cyberpunk 2077 now being issued for PS4 and Xbox One owners

The release of the Cyberpunk 2077 came with a bunch of glitches and bugs, but for players on older-gen consoles like PS4 or Xbox One, the game is outright unplayable due to very poor performance. It is clear from the performance of older generation consoles that even after getting patched, the game will only perform subpar with a less than desirable look. Do you also want a Cyberpunk 2077 refund?

Starting of the game, even getting past the first cutscene to the first vehicle sequence the game becomes unplayable as FPS drops below 20 with a constant stutter. Even after getting past the scripted sequence, the horrible texture pop-in, digital artifacts, and low polygon models make the game look worse than a PS3 game from 2008. The Night City also suffers and only a handful of NPCs wander around the city.

As per a report by VGC, Sony is finally issuing refunds for players who purchased the game on Sony’s last-gen hardware and are now seeking refunds. According to Redditor NotBen_2, after contacting PlayStation support he was able to get through and secure a refund after well over 10 hours of play. Several others also confirmed calling in the support about refunds and able to secure a refund.

Since the story about refunds broke out, CD Projekt Red issued an apology for not showing Cyberpunk 2077 running on last-gen consoles before the game’s release and said they will allow refunds for both digital and physical copies of the game.

The company released a statement and said:

“First of all, we would like to start by apologizing to you for not showing the game on base last-gen consoles before it premiered and, in consequence, not allowing you to make a more informed decision about your purchase. We should have paid more attention to make it play better on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.”

“Second, we will fix bugs and crashes, and improve the overall experience. The first round of updates has just been released and the next one is coming within the next 7 days. Expect more, as we will update frequently whenever new improvements are ready.”

“After the holidays we’ll continue working – we’ll release two large patches starting with Patch #1 in January. This will be followed by Patch #2 in February. Together these should fix the most prominent problems gamers are facing on last-gen consoles.”

Players who purchased the digital version can use the Cyberpunk 2077 refund system of PSN or Xbox respectively. For boxed versions, players should try to get a refund at the store where they bought the game from. Should this not be possible, then they should contact CDPR at [email protected] and they will help further.
