Cyberpunk 2077 official release further delayed to December, 2020

Cyberpunk 2077 has officially been delayed once more, with the release date now being pushed to December 10, 2020. CD Projekt Red had recently announced that there will not be any further delays after attaining Gold status for the game.

The developers have attributed the delay to ensuring compatibility with 9 different platforms, with Cyberpunk set to be released on old-gen, next-gen consoles, PC, and Google Stadia, all at the same time.

“The biggest challenge for us right now is shipping the game on current-gen, next-gen, and PC at the same time, which requires us to prepare and test nine versions of it,” the company said in a tweet. “We need to make sure everything works well and every version runs smoothly. We’re aware it might seem unrealistic when someone says 21 days can make any difference in such a massive and complex game, but they really do.”

The issues have been rearing its ugly head for a while now. CD Projekt Red had earlier committed to not assigning Overtimes to its employees during the announcement of the game. However, recently, the staff has been asked to work overtime to ensure the timely release of the game.

The delays have killed a portion of the enthusiasm and hype that was created in the Gaming industry for the game.

Fans and early buyers would hope that this delay is the last one and they are able to play the game in 2020, at the very least.
