Destiny Arrives Early, as Sony Accidentally Leaks Destiny 2: The Final Shape DLC Content

Thanos must be agitated about the title, but we don’t care. Guardians, destiny will arrive & this time, it arrived earlier than usual. Entropy stuck the Destiny 2 community earlier when upcoming “The Final Shape” expansion details were leaked online. Sony granted players a premature sight into the content, weapons, armor, raid mechanics & even spoiled the key plot points.

Who leaked it?

Reports suggest that the leak is linked to PS5’s streaming service. While the lens on the exact details remains blurry, certain players got unhindered access to a significant section of the upcoming expansion, resulting in unrest across social platforms.

Clean up on aisle 4

Bungie and Sony had yet to officially comment on what just happened earlier but were prompt with their housekeeping and took down the faulty servers to stop any more damage infliction than what had already been done.

At the time of writing, there was an update from Bungie acknowledging how Destiny 2: The Final Shape was accidentally pushed to production early today, granting players unplanned access to the expansion content.

Destiny 2 The Final Shape

That one annoying spoiler master friend

Yes, we are talking about how to avoid spoilers. And about that annoying friend, this can help.

“Earlier today, a portion of Destiny 2: The Final Shape was accidentally pushed live on PS5’s streaming service,” Bungie said in its statement.

“There are currently spoilers being shared online. A small group of players was able to play some of the campaign, access Collections, and other reward info coming in The Final Shape, and Echoes.” Bungie was warning the community to stay vigilant & avoid spoilers to retain the euphoria of experiencing the content for the first time for the ones in the dark.

The Final Shape is the final page in the 10-year-long book for Destiny, which made its debutant launch in 2014. The DLC is said to be the conclusion of one saga of the series and the beginning of the next, so its storyline is sure to carry some gravitas.

“It’s always extremely difficult when our team’s hard work is leaked early, but we are still excited for everyone to experience the full release on June 4 together,” Bungie said.

The ray of sunshine in the storm

There seems to be a ray of hope though. Despite the leaks, the hype seems to have been amped up even more with more people discussing the game now than ever. If and when Bungie delivers on its promise of quality content for the expansion, we think this setback will have been forgotten by then.
