Twitch bans Donald Trump Yet Again

Amazon’s streaming platform Twitch has disabled former US President Donald Trump’s Twitch channel for an indefinite period.

Twitter and Facebook handed a permanent ban to Trump with the former revoking it after he served a brief spell away from the platform.

Twitch has followed suit, banning him from their platform for an indefinite period, thus preventing him to reach out to his millions of supporters via live streams, as Twitch believes this is how they might prevent their platform “from being used to incite further violence”.

“In light of yesterday’s shocking attack on the Capitol, we have disabled President Trump’s Twitch channel,” the company said in a statement. “Given the current extraordinary circumstances and the President’s incendiary rhetoric, we believe this is a necessary step to protect our community and prevent Twitch from being used to incite further violence.” said Twitch to CNN.

US President Donald Trump’s persistent endeavors to invert the aftereffects of the 2020 political race crossed the line when an outfitted armed crowd of his supporters attacked Capitol Hill as Congress gathered to approve Joe Biden’s official success, resulting in a woman getting seriously shot.

Mark Zuckerberg banned Trump from Facebook and Instagram “for at least two weeks until the peaceful transfer of power is complete.” This step of his motivated other platforms to follow suit.

Several other social/entertainment media platforms have followed the footsteps of Twitch and disallowed Trump to reach out to his supporters via their platform, in case it helps to somewhat cool off the protesters at Capitol Hill. After the crowd caused a mess over at the government building, Washington DC has been put under lockdown keeping the security of citizens in mind.
