New Arcade Game Mode Lets You Play Deadlock in Dota 2

Deadlock Characters Take on Dota 2 Heroes

One of the key features that sets Dota 2 apart from other popular MOBAs, like League of Legends, is its community workshop. Using the workshop, individual map creators from throughout the world come up with unique mods that can provide a refreshing change of pace from the intense grind of ranked Dota 2.

In fact, it was the Dota 2 community workshop that gave rise to game modes like ‘Auto Chess’ and ‘Overthrow’, with the former inspiring several other popular games—some not exactly hiding their ‘inspiration’—to develop their own versions of it.

Recently, a new game mode has been taking over the Arcade section of Dota 2, and for good reason. The community map in question, called ‘Deadlock Experemental’, enables players to enjoy Deadlock, the newest Valve title and a unique take on the ‘hero shooter’ genre, in Dota 2.

‘Deadlock Experemental’ Lets You Experience Deadlock vs Dota 2

‘Deadlock Experemental’ not only lets you play Deadlock in Dota 2, but it also lets you battle out the Deadlock characters against Dota 2 heroes with your friends.

So, how does it work?

The map is split into two halves, the ‘Deadlock’ half and the ‘Dota 2’ half. The team that starts in the former half picks characters from Deadlock and plays the entire match in a third-person perspective similar to the hero shooter itself. The other team plays a regular game of Dota 2 but against Deadlock heroes.

The team using Deadlock characters has access to the finer mechanics of the game like dashing, melee attacks, and precise aiming with their crosshairs to take down enemies. On top of that, they have to purchase items from the Deadlock shop instead of the Dota 2 shop, leading to some interesting interactions.
