Do you feel that you’re not getting the same amount of FPS in Dota 2 as you did before? Turns out, your Dota 2 inventory might be the culprit behind this.
Your collection of Arcanas, Immortals, and Hero sets accumulated over the years could be significantly impacting your game’s performance, and the only apparent solution might entail creating a new account.
In a recent Reddit thread, user ‘Kuroyukihime1‘ compared their Dota 2 FPS between an old and a new account, and the results are truly astonishing.
As reported by the Reddit user, creating a new Dota 2 account appears to have a substantial impact on the in-game FPS. In this specific case, the user experienced a remarkable 67% increase in FPS while standing idle on the Mid lane, using the same GPU and game settings as before.
Dota 2 FPS Experiment: Old Account vs New Account
Here are the detailed results of the user’s experiment:
- Old Dota 2 Account: 118 FPS Average
- New Dota 2 Account: 197 FPS Average
- Difference in average FPS: 79 FPS (67%)
The Reddit post has quickly become a cause of concern within the game’s community, as the difference in the FPS counts between the two accounts is certainly striking.
Fortunately, the Dota 2 developers seem to have taken note of this issue. Jeff Hill, Senior Software Engineer at Valve, was swift to respond to the aforementioned Reddit thread.
“Oh wow, that’s not a small difference at all!” Hill said in his reply. “If you could collect an ETL (Event Trace Log) file while idling on the new account and the normal account and share them that would be super helpful.”
Dota 2 fans have urged Valve to fix this problem at the earliest.
