DOTA2 TI11 To Be Held in Singapore as Announced by Valve

The International 11 will be the first TI event to be held in Southeast Asia

Valve announced the venue for the 11th edition of its premier DOTA2 event – The International. TI11 will be held in Singapore, as announced during the ESL One Stockholm Dota Major 2022. This will be the first time that The International will be held in Southeast Asia. Previously, China became the first Asia country to host The International when it hosted TI9 in 2019 in Shanghai.

During the Grand Finals of the first International LAN of 2022, ESL One Stockholm Major, Valve announced the venue for TI11 through an announcement video:

Valve had previously been teasing the location for TI11 through a series of tweets in the last few days, and today it was confirmed to be Singapore.

The International 11 will be held at Indoor Stadium and Suntec Arena in October 2022. The qualifying format will remain the same, with 12 teams receiving direct invites based on Dota 2 Pro Circuit points from the 2021-22 season while the remaining 6 spots will be filled by teams qualifying from regional qualifiers.

The International is one of the biggest esports events and certainly the biggest Dota2 event in the Pro circuit. The inaugural TI was held in Cologne, Germany but the following 6 were held in Seattle, USA. It moved to a new location each time since then – Vancouver, Canada in 2018, Shanghai, China in 2019, Bucharest Romania in 2021, and now Singapore in 2022.

The international 2020 had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, and TI10 was hosted in 2021. At the last moment, due to the rise in coronavirus infections at the venue, it was decided that fans wouldn’t be allowed and TI10 was held without a crowd.

TI10 was won by underdogs Team Spirit who claimed their first TI event. Favorites OG could not make it a three-peat, as they fell short, after winning it in 2018 and 2019. Team Spirit won $18,208,300 USD in prize money at TI11 and will be looking to defend their crown.

More details about TI11, Singapore will be made available as the event nears.
