New Dota 2 hero Hoodwink revealed in 7.28 ‘Mistwoods’ Update

The much-anticipated patch 7.28 has finally arrived in Dota 2, and it brings a number of huge changes to the MOBA title by Valve. These changes include a new hero, Aghanim’s Shards, and a plethora of changes to the heroes and items in the game.

Let’s take a look at some of the changes implemented through the 7.28 update:

New Dota 2 Hero: Hoodwink

Hoodwink is the newest hero introduced to the world of Dota 2.

“Always at hand when trouble’s afoot, Hoodwink lives to tangle with the threats that fill the haunted forest she has adopted as her home. Toting a massive crossbow while still able to scurry through the woodland with the greatest of ease, Hoodwink is nearly impossible to keep tabs on in battle.”

The ranged nuker and disabler seems to pack an interesting set of skills. Here’s a glance at her skillset as mentioned in the official Dota 2 blog:

  • Acorn Shot: Hoodwink fires an attack with an acorn at the target unit which then bounces to nearby targets, slowing them and dealing bonus damage. When targeted on the ground, a tree is created at the target position but the added bounce is lost.
  • Bushwack: Tosses a net trap that stunts enemy heroes if they are near a tree in the area. Affected enemies are pulled towards the tree and have their vision reduced to zero for the duration of the stun.
  • Scurry: Hoodwink passively has a chance to evade physical attacks while near trees. Can be activated to gain bonus movement speed, phased collision, and tree-walking for a brief period of time.
  • Sharpshooter: Hoodwink charges up and fires a deadly bolt from her crossbow, dealing heavy damage, slow and Break to an enemy hero. The damage and debuff duration scale up in time with her charge.

Aghanim’s Shards

Aghanim’s Shard is a new item that made its way to Dota 2 through today’s patch 7.28.

The item costs 1400 gold and can be purchased after 20 minutes into the game. When purchased, provides heroes with their own custom shard upgrade which permanently adds a new ability or improves an existing one. The item is consumed immediately when given to the hero, similar to Aghanim’s Blessing.

Other than these, patch 7.28 also introduces several changes to heroes and items in-game. You can take a detailed look at the patch notes here.
