The International 2024 Dota 2 Tournament to Take Place in Copenhagen

The International 2024, the largest annual Dota 2 tournament, is set to take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, in September 2024. Valve confirmed the news in an official blog post published on the night of March 8th.

European fans have eagerly awaited the chance to attend The International in person since the last time it was held in Europe, back in TI 1 in 2011, as part of Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. Despite TI 10 taking place in Bucharest, Romania, fans couldn’t attend the event due to a surge in coronavirus cases, leading Valve to announce a no-live-audience policy for the event. With TI 2024 set to take place in Copenhagen, anticipation is high among Dota 2 enthusiasts in Europe for the return of this prestigious tournament to their continent.

The International 2024 will feature sixteen of the finest Dota 2 teams from throughout the globe battling it out for a humongous prize pool. Valve has announced that the participating teams will be “a mix of open qualifiers, regional qualifiers, and direct invitations, similar to how invitations worked for the first few years of The International.”

Teams that get direct invites to the prestigious event will be chosen based on their performance in the various tournaments throughout the year.

While the exact dates of The International 2024 haven’t been revealed at the time of writing, we know that the tournament is scheduled to kick off in September. Valve has also revealed that the main event for TI 2024 will take place in Copenhagen’s Royal Arena.

The ticketing and scheduling information for The International 2024 will be disclosed by Valve in the next few months.
