Valve Announces TI12 Short Film Contest

The heavily anticipated Short Film Contest for the upcoming TI12 Dota 2 championship has finally been announced by Valve. The submissions for the contest are already open, and fans of the MOBA have until September 14, 2023, at 3 am PDT to submit their short film creations to the Steam Workshop page of Dota 2. These short films should be no longer than 90 seconds, and the contest winners will be decided by the votes that the creations receive on the Steam Workshop.

For the uninitiated, each year, Valve organizes a Short Film contest for Dota 2, the winners of which are crowned during The International – the biggest annual tournament for the game.

The short film that manages to secure first place will receive a whopping $25,000 for its creation, a $10,000 reward for the second place, and $5,000 for the third.

The first round of voting will take place on the Steam Workshop page of Dota 2, where players will be able to vote on their favorite short films. From there, the most voted entries will be integrated into the game client, where further player votes will determine the top 10 films. The top 10 short films in the contest will be showcased during TI12, with every finalist who makes it to the top ten receiving a guaranteed prize of $500.

If you’re a fan of Dota 2 who’s also a fan of creating short films, then the TI12 Short Film Contest might just be the perfect opportunity to showcase your creativity and passion for both gaming and filmmaking.
