Diretide Returns To Dota 2 After Seven Years

Finally, after all these years of repeated demands from the Dota 2 community, Valve has brought back Diretide to their MOBA title.

Don’t be surprised if you find a Dota 2 fan shedding a few tears of joy today, as the game’s most popular event till date, Diretide, has made a return for the first time in seven years.

As much as you may find it hard to believe, it’s true – Valve is finally listening to the community.

Diretide is a Halloween event for Dota 2 that was originally released way back in 2012. The event made a return in 2013, but was never seen again.

The event attained such an amount of popularity that Dota 2 fans across the world started demanding Diretide’s return from Valve, but to no avail. The demands slowly turned into a meme, as the message – “Volvo giff Diretide” – took the internet by storm.

The memes got to a point that the Swedish automobile company Volvo acknowledged that even they were aware of the Dota 2 fans’ demands.

After all these years, on October 29th, 2020, Valve announced the return of Diretide to Dota 2 as this year’s Halloween event with an event trailer, and needless to say, fans were ecstatic.

This year’s Diretide features a best-of-five brawl match where players have to collect and steal candy from enemies while fighting Roshan. Players will also be able to earn points by playing both Diretide and normal Dota during the event. Every 100 point you get will land you a reward from over 75 unique items including Treasures, Voice Lines, HUD and UI items, Special cosmetic effects, and other stuff.

The event will continue till December 22nd, so fans will have a lot of time to get those points in and get the items they desire.
