Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Patch 1.12.3 Nerfs Weapons, Buffs Sorceries, and More

FromSoftware Tackles Balance Issues and Player Feedback in Latest Elden Ring DLC Update

FromSoftware has released a major balance patch for the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, bringing significant changes to the game. This update, known as patch 1.12.3, introduces a variety of adjustments aimed at improving gameplay balance and addressing player feedback. Here are the key highlights from the patch notes:

Major Weapon and Skill Adjustments

The patch primarily focuses on nerfing several overpowered weapons and skills that have been problematic since the DLC’s launch. Notable changes include:

  • Perfume Bottles: The damage of the Lightning Perfume Bottle and Frenzyflame Perfume Bottle has been reduced, addressing their overpowered nature in combat.
  • Ashes of War: The effectiveness of the Rolling Sparks and Swift Slash skills has been adjusted, with the latter’s shearing vacuum effect damage and animation being decreased.
  • Fire Knight’s Greatsword: The hitstun of this weapon has been modified to balance its impact in battles.

Boss Adjustments

Two of the game’s bosses, Commander Gaius and the Golden Hippopotamus, have received changes to make them less frustrating for players:

  • Boss Placement: Both bosses now appear farther away from the fog wall on repeat attempts, giving players more room to prepare for the fight.
  • Golden Hippopotamus: The active frames of its bite attack have been reduced, making this boss less challenging.

Weapon Buffs

While the patch is heavy on nerfs, it also includes a much-needed buff for one of the game’s least effective weapons:

  • Carian Sorcery Sword: This weapon has seen an increase in its Intelligence scaling, although its base damage has been slightly decreased to maintain balance.

Additional Tweaks and Fixes

The update also includes several other performance improvements and bug fixes to enhance the overall gaming experience. These changes are part of FromSoftware’s ongoing efforts to refine Elden Ring and ensure a balanced and enjoyable experience for all players.

The Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC continues to evolve with this latest patch, addressing key issues and making the game more balanced and enjoyable. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game, these updates are sure to enhance your journey through the Lands Between.
