Back in 2019 at the E3 expo, FromSoftware announced their upcoming title “Elden Ring” in collaboration with George R.R Martin. After which nothing more was revealed about the game except a handful of concept art and an announcement trailer.
The game has been the subject of multiple leaks and rumors since then, with fans speculating that the trailer would be revealed during Microsoft’s upcoming March showcase event. However, Aaron Greenberg, the head executive for Xbox’s marketing department immediately dismissed the rumors as they “have no upcoming game announcements or reveals.”
Just recently, a few scenes from the trailer were leaked and shared across social media platforms. As is tradition, the leaked footage happens to be blurry with the camera shaking constantly. However, the snippets still contain visible details such as Horseback riding, Skeleton-like enemies, Dragons, and familiar souls-like dungeons.
Prominent Video Game journalists Jason Schrier at Bloomberg, Andy Robinson at VGC, and Jeff Grubb at Venturebeat confirmed that the footage was indeed real. During his stream on Twitch, Fanbyte’s Imran Khan stated “when Bandai Namco and FromSoftware want to reveal the Elden Ring, they are going to do it by just dropping the trailer”.
What’s interesting to note here is that Bandai Namco has registered a trademark for “Bandai Namco Next”, a showcase for “providing information about Video Games, computer games and amusement machines.” which could indicate that an official reveal might be closer than we think.
