Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s love for video games is well known, he previously asked the users whether they would be interested in playing CD Project Red’s The Witcher games while on self-driving mode in their Teslas. A few days back he took to twitter to ask whether it is possible to get good “multiplayer games” working in a Tesla.
Certain selection of Teslas already includes games that the owner can boot up through the car. Musk has been playing Mojang’s sandbox building title Minecraft as he tweeted the following:
Musk went on to ask whether a game that “interacts virtually with reality” such as Pokemon GO could work while “driving safely”, arguing that they could work something like a complex version of Mario Kart. However, Pokemon GO has led to numerous concerns regarding road safety as players have been pulled over for trying to catch a Pokemon while driving even during the COVID19- pandemic.
These games would not necessarily make distracted driving a safe practise even with a self-driving vehicle. In February, a Tesla driver got killed in a 2018 crash may have been able to prevent his autopilot’s malfunction if he hadn’t been distracted playing on his phone.
As of late, Musk has had a somewhat spotty track record on social media. Not only he single-handedly dropped his own company’s stock prices by joking about it on Twitter but he also recevived backlash for using a Deus Ex comparison when calling for the end of coronavirus safety measures.
Despite these controversies, Musk and his companies – SpaceX, Tesla and others are doing a pretty good job in the field of technology. Sometimes popularity comes in the form of a meme, for example when fans petitioned to get the Tesla Cybertruck into Rocket League. This petition certainly gave a huge boost to the popularity of Tesla Cybertruck.
