England Cricket world cup star Ben Stokes, Chelsea legend John Terry, Olympic champion Justin Rose and several other stars come together for NHS Charities Together Cup to raise £10 million for NHS workers who are busy fighting on the front lines in the UK against the threat of Coronavirus.
The tournament will feature several other big stars such as Footballer John Terry, Boxer Dillian Whyte, Tennis Coach Judy Murray, Footballer Leah Williamson, and the Brownlee brothers – Jonny and Alistair and some TV personalities like Paddy McGuinness to Chris Kamara.
The tournament will be played out in EA’s FIFA 20 next week with live telecasts and commentary. The initial goal of the tournament is to raise £10m and the long term goal is to raise £100m. A total of eight teams feature 3 celebrities each will battle it out in a 1v1 knockout FIFA 20 competition. A public vote will decide which team member will represent the team per 1v1 match.
A tournament spokesperson also confirmed all additional donations will be going towards the charity and said:
“All proceeds are in aid of the Urgent Appeal: COVID-19 Relief Fund: and will go to NHS charities around the country supporting our heroic but desperately stretched NHS staff.”
The coronavirus has decimated the world with more than 3 million cases worldwide and 200K deaths, the essential workers around the world are fighting tirelessly and events like this help in raising funds to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
