“Esport deserves all the support and recognition” Manish Sisodiya on ESPL 2021

Esports Premier League 2021 came out as Mumbai Marshals emerging as the winners of the inaugural season.

The franchise-based league system from India Today Gaming, the esports division of India Today boasted a 25,00,000 prize pool and the lion’s share has been bagged by Mumbai Marshals. Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Mr. Manish Sisodia and Ms.
Kalli Purie, Vice Chairperson, India Today Group were present in the ceremony to hand over the accolades and cash rewards to the winners and runner-ups in a city hotel.

“It was like a festival of Esports, playing out in the last couple of months. There was an overwhelming response coming from all over the country. The gamers showcased their A- game and the competition was nothing short of top class. I hope these athletes will further utilise this experience and win medals for the country in the coming time” said Mr. Vishwalok Nath, Director, ESPL.

Esports Premier League 2021 is divided into 4 phases. Phase 1 featured amateur and semi-professional teams across the country which competed against each other to finish in the top 22 teams from each group. A total of 88 teams qualified for phase 2 who were joined with the 8 invited teams. These teams competed in the level 2 phase out of which the top 8 teams made it through the Level 3 stage. 

Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, highlighted that “Esports now is growing very fast. I am convinced that this “E” sport deserves all the support and recognition. I promise that the Delhi government will encourage Esports in every possible manner. We will be happy to encourage all the initiatives that will help the industry and the sector to grow.”

ESPL 2021 is the inaugural Pan-India Free Fire tournament announced by India Today Gaming and presented by Infinix Note 10 Series Smartphone. The ESPL 2021 is powered by PTC Punjabi and Sunfeast Yippee! Noodles is its official snacking partner. India Today Gaming got Bollywood star, Tiger Shroff on board as its official brand ambassador.

ESPL 2021 Level 3 matches will be broadcasted on multiple platforms for fans to enjoy. The matches will be cased in six languages including Hindi, English, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Bengali. The broadcasts will be available on the YouTube and Facebook channels of India Today Gaming as well as India Today and AajTak.

With the awarding ceremony, Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also showed off the logo of the upcoming World Esports Cup. With this and a series of tournaments on the way, the organizer plans to help make India a global Esports powerhouse. Further details surrounding the World Esports Cup will be revealed at a latter date but one thing is for sure, exciting times are on the horizon.
