Esports World Cup 2025 Announces $70M Prize Pool – Largest in History

Saudi Arabia's flagship event increases total winnings by $10M - now the richest tournament in esports history.

The Esports World Cup (EWC) will again come to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from July 7 to August 24, 2025, with an unprecedented prize pool of over $70 million. This represents a $10 million boost over last year, cementing the EWC’s place as the richest event in esports history.

The 2025 competition will include contests in 24 games, up from last year’s group of 21, with the addition of chess and Riot Games’ new shooter, “Valorant.” This expands the roster from last year’s lineup of 21 games, taking into consideration the EWC’s aim at being more diversified and appealing to a greater number of players.

Ralf Reichert, Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) CEO, pointed out that the huge prize pool is a reflection of long-term vision aimed at boosting the esports sector. The vision is to give the players, clubs, publishers, and other involved parties the solidity to invest in long-term prosperity. Reichert added, “While over $70 million is an amazing, life-altering amount, it’s always a part of a long-term vision as opposed to short-term impact.”

Apart from the prize money, the EWCF has also initiated a $20 million Club Partner Program, with 40 top clubs involved. The program is designed to drive the sustainable development of esports organizations by offering up to $1 million in funding to each club, allowing them to build their brands and international fanbase.

EWC falls within Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” economic diversification plan, with major investments in a range of sports and entertainment activities. Its intentions to establish itself as a global gaming center are also underscored by the signing of an agreement with the International Olympic Committee to host the first Olympic Esports Games in 2027.

The 2025 Riyadh Esports World Cup is on track to raise the bar for the esports world with its prize pool record and increased game portfolio. These advances highlight the increasing stature of the event and Saudi Arabia’s strategic focus on making itself a core hub in the international gaming space.
