G2 Wins Its First Game in Shanghai Major Elimination Stage

G2's Resurgence: A Dominant Performance Over BIG

G2 demolished BIG to win their first game of the Perfect World Shanghai Major. Many questioned their individuals after the beating they took from MongolZ earlier today but a convincing win against BIG has answered most concerns.

  • Mirage was left over

Map 1: Mirage; Winner: G2; Score: 13-5

Starting on the T side, G2 got hard stopped by BIG leading them to go 0-3 down before they could get back on the board. Their first round came from an anti-eco in the fourth round which led them to go on a tear, winning all the remaining rounds in the half going 9-3 up as BIG failed to find any solutions in the first half.

The second half opened with BIG securing the pistol with a B execute but G2 took back control as soon as the guns came out. BIG failed to convert a single gun round as G2 steamrolled the German side to secure a dominant 13-5 win.

After their initial loss, G2 has recovered and now they need two more wins to make it to the next stage. m0NESY and NiKo have announced their arrival in Shanghai and with both of them in such form, it is hard to imagine G2 not qualifying for the next stage.

BIG losing two games straight will have no room for error as all the matches they play moving forward count as a must-win game. Despite boasting a strong form coming into the elimination, they find themselves in a bit of a hole, and digging themselves up is the only way out.
