Evil Geniuses following a stellar i-League season 8 victory rose up in the HLTV world rankings making them the second North American roster to do so in 2019, the former being Team Liquid.
Formerly NRG, the roster was acquired by one of the leading esports organizations EG. Since then they have taken part in 3 LAN events and won two of them. In the past four months, we saw EG secure a top-four finish in the major, 1st place in ESL One New York and 1st place in i-League Season 8, North American roster move up two places in the ranking. EG are currently on thin ice, with Astralis just 30 points behind. Blast Pro Copenhagen which starts tomorrow will provide Astralis with a golden opportunity to take over EG as they will not be attending the event.
The rankings are as follows:
Position | Team Name | Points |
1 | Evil Geniuses | 906 |
2 | Astralis | 876 |
3 | Fnatic | 733 |
4 | Team Liquid | 669 |
5 | Vitality | 476 |
6 | Avangar | 435 |
7 | Renegades | 393 |
8 | Furia | 359 |
9 | Mousesports | 342 |
10 | Natus Vincere | 281 |
Fnatic and EG are the only teams in the top 5 to get a rank upgrade, with Team Liquid falling down to the 4th place behind Fnatic in 3rd. EG will return at IEM Beijing, starting on November 7, with Astralis also being in attendance. The two teams have a chance to meet at the ECS Season 8 Finals later this month and at the ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals, in early December.
