Byron ‘Reckful’ Bernstein has passed away at the age of 31. The news was confirmed by his girlfriend and fellow Twitch streamer BlueGoesMew along with his roommate.
Reckful was a former World of Warcraft and Hearthstone professional who represented Complexity between 2009-2011.
Leading up to the news of his suicide, Reckful’s Twitter feed already posed an alarming picture, with the 31-year-old seemingly apologising for people that have to deal with his insanity and that he might not be feeling in control of his actions.
The tweets also included a public request to his ex-girlfriend BeccaTilts,proposing her for marriage. BlueGoesMew has included a screenshot of her conversation with Reckful in the moments leading up to the tragedy.
A voice of reason and hope for people dealing with mental health, Reckful has always been upfront with his battle against depression, especially after his eldest brother Guy committed suicide during his teenage days.
It is devastating to see a person like Reckful succumb to his demons but the uncountable souls he touched and helped will never be forgotten.
