On the day of 4th May, Epic Games rolled back the years to bring the Star Wars skins and characters once again back to Fortnite. Fortnite X Star Wars has been one of their more successful collaborations and it brings forth a wave of excitement among players. The Star Wars skins and characters capture the hearts of teens and millennials alike and their integration into the game was seamless, unlike any cosmetics that came before.
Set to run between May 3–May 17, 2024, the Fortnite X Star Wars crossover will be featuring Dagobah Luke, the fourth iteration of Luke Skywalker, Lando Calrissian, and Chewbacca. Weapons from the Star Wars universe will be introduced as skins and a plethora of events will be set up for players to grab them.
Despite being an exciting proposition, players who experienced the same update previously are claiming that the latest update is not as “fun” as it was last year. Players were let down when the 29.40 update did not bring back force skills and lightsabers, as they had anticipated. They were prompted to contrast it with the Star Wars Day update from the previous year, which featured items like the Kinetic Blade and ODM Gear.
To make matters worse, the update has been split into two additional game modes which may have contributed to the lack of content. When compared to last year, the 29.4 update looks like a desperate attempt to profit off the 4th May hype with the worst possible planning and the lack of content makes it look like nothing more than half-hearted attempt.
