FPX CSGO release Devilwalk

After a string of poor showings and a failed Regional Major Ranking (RMR) run, FunPlus Phoenix aims to bring in the fresh air.

Jonatan “Devilwalk” Lundberg, the head coach at FPX Esports has been released from his duties, the Chinese-European Organization announced today on Twitter. This change in the ranks of FPX CSGO comes after the team’s failed attempt to make it out of the RMR event (IEM XVI: Fall Europe) ahead of the forthcoming PGL major as the decision to re-evaluate their coaching options has been given a thought at the Luka “emi” Vuković led camp.

Devilwalk has been with the core of FPX mainly Martin “STYKO” Styk, Jesse “zehN” Linjala, and Pavle “maden” Bošković since their time at NoChance and were acquired by SMASH Esports, GODSENT in 2019 and later by FunPlus Phoenix in 2021. The 30-year-old Swedish veteran coached multiple iterations until the roster decided to field Asger “farlig” Jensen and emi for the further 2021 pro circuit.

Under Devilwalk, FPX just managed to win the Relog media organized Sweet Snow Sweet cup against Gambit Esports followed by a plethora of mid-bottom table finishes at Tier 1 events notably at ESL Pro League Season 13, FLASHPOINT Season 3 and the IEM Summer XVI.

Also, the team parted ways with their general manager Petar “peca” Marković who chose to explore “new endeavors” as mentioned in his farewell tweet while the Serbian also managed the Valorant division at FPX.

FPX CSGO are now:

  • Jesse “zehN” Linjala
  • Martin “STYKO” Styk
  • Pavle “Maden” Bošković
  • Asger “Farlig” Jensen
  • Luka “emi” Vuković
