While Among Us failed to make an impact in the first two years of its release, the popularity of the murder-mystery game has blown up in the past few months.
InnerSloth’s title features up to ten players spawned in a spaceship with various tasks scattered across the ship for the crewmates to do. However, there are some hidden impostors among them whose objectives are to stop the crewmates from doing tasks and kill them all. The crewmates can win by either finishing all the tasks or finding out who the impostors are and eject them.
If you’re a fan of this game of stealth, lies, and deception but are bored from playing the same game over and over again, then you might be looking for some more games to play which are similar to Among Us. Luckily, there are a lot more games in the same genre that feature similar basic concepts like Among Us.
1) Town of Salem:
You probably excepted this game to be on the list. Town of Salem is a cross-platform multiplayer social deduction strategy game by BlankMediaGames which was released way back in 2014.
The game takes place in the town of Salem, Massachusetts where players are divided into the mafia, town, or neutral. Similar to impostors in Among Us, the mafia are a minority in the town whose only win condition is to eliminate the townspeople. After every night, the players can see who got killed and can lynch a player who they find suspicious. The town wins if they successfully manage to lynch or kill all the mafia in the town.
But what’s even more exciting in Town of Salem is that the game features 49 unique roles for the players. For example, if you’re a doctor, you can heal other players at night and save them from getting murdered by the mafia.
While Town of Salem can be played for free on mobile with ads, it can be purchased on Steam for a price of $4.
2) Deceit:
Deceit is a multiplayer first-person shooter title by Baseline built on the similar elements of social deduction as Among Us.
Players find themselves waking up in an unfamiliar place surrounded by five others. Two players out of the group of six are infected with a deadly virus, whose goals are to sabotage and hinder the attempts of the innocents to get to the exit. At the end of each zone, the infected transform into a deadly terror form and try to murder the innocents.
Players have to garner the trusts of other players while simultaneously working together to find a way to the exit by traversing a total of three zones as the infected try to isolate and eliminate them one by one.
Deceit is available to play for free on Steam.
3) Trouble in Terrorist Town:
While TTT isn’t a game itself, it’s a mod that available to play in popular games like Garry’s mod, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, or even Roblox.
Players are divided into two groups of Innocents and Traitors. Traitors have to kill all the innocents to win the game but this mode has a major twist – the innocents are armed. If you, as a traitor, fail to kill the innocents quickly enough, not only can they warn others on who’s attempting to kill them but they may also kill you themselves.
Other than the freedom to choose weapons, there are also other additions like the in-game shop which make this game even more thrilling than the similar titles out there. However, unlike the other games, you don’t get an option to ‘vote’ players out.
4) Unfortunate Spacemen:
Similar to Among Us, Unfortunate Spacement is also based in space and feature similar themes. The spacemen have to complete a series of tasks to escape the ship alive while being hunted by a monster taking the disguise of one of the spacemen. The shapeshifting monster needs to pick off the spacemen one by one, else it runs the risk of being hunted down by the group.
The first-person game boasts multiple game modes and is currently free-to-play on Steam.
