The world of Marvel’s Avenger continues to expand with new characters from the comic and movie franchise joining the game as playable characters. The latest to join the roster of playable characters is Spiderman. Although only for the PlayStation owners, the neighborhood hero Spiderman is finally joining the game on November 30th.
Spiderman character will be available in the game as a reward for Spider-Man’s “Hero Event”. Unlike the previous “Operations” that introduced new characters, the Spiderman Hero Event will be different as it won’t be bringing any new story missions. The Hero Event will feature a series of audio logs, along with some illustrated cutscenes unlocked as you complete character-specific challenges in Marvel’s Avengers. There’s also a brand new Discordant Sound Raid that can be performed for new gear and rewards.
Here’s how you can unlock Spiderman
In order to unlock Spider-Man as a playable character, you will need to begin the new “With Great Power” hero event. All the PlayStation players can directly start playing as Spider-Man simply by going to the war table and clicking on the option within the Avenger’s Initiative. Players don’t need to play the entire original story campaign missions or newer updates to play as Spider-Man in Marvel’s Avengers.
However, do note that Spider-Man is only available to those who own a PlayStation copy of Marvel’s Avengers. The character and the hero event will be added as a free DLC. There are some Spidey-specific challenges that you can do.
Abilities and Powers
Like all the playable characters, Spiderman will have his own unique abilities and powers. He has 3 heroic abilities that are mostly centered around webbing up a bunch of enemies together or stunning them for other Avengers.
His first ability is called Web-Bomb which deals with an area of effect damage and causes the new webbed status effect onto enemies. An enemy caught in the web bomb will be stunned for a short period of time and will be much easier to kill.
The second ability is called Spider-Drone. An AI partner that hovers over Spiderman and shoots webs at enemies within a certain radius. Players can command the drone to follow or to stay at one position and fire webs.
Lastly, the ultimate ability is called Wrecking Ball. This ability creates a massive ball of webs that smashes onto the ground to deal damage to anyone near it or in its path.
