Microsoft has recently announced that a limited number of Xbox Game Pass Ulitmate subscribers will get a chance to try out the beta version of the Xbox Cloud Gaming service on their Xbox One and Series X/S consoles starting 17th November.
Xbox Cloud Gaming service will first make its debut on consoles only and will be available to a limited number of users only in 25 regions, including the United States, UK, Australia, and much of Europe.
Eligible users will find a cloud icon under-supported titles in their console’s Game Pass library. Games supported by Cloud service can be launched immediately without the need for any download. Microsoft calls Xbox Cloud Gaming a “great way to discover your next favourite game while saving space on your hard drive for the games you plan to play again and again.”
Do note that the service may not be immediately available on your console right after startup without the installation of a new system update which you might need to trigger manually through the settings menu. Once installed your console will be ready to launch any cloud compatible game without any further downloads.
The launch of the Xbox Cloud Gaming service has brought a new life to the previous-gen Xbox One consoles that can now play certain next-gen Xbox Series X/S titles via streaming, including the likes of The Medium, Recompile, and The Riftbreaker.
Microsoft also said that they are working on expanding the cloud game library and trying to include more next-gen titles over time, with Microsoft Flight Simulator currently set to be supported in “early 2022”. Microsoft plans to scale the service to all gamers in supported markets over the coming weeks. As for those on PC, Microsoft didn’t announce anything about bringing the service to the PC Xbox app.
