PS5 Sales Numbers 2023: 30 Million Units Sold, Confirms Sony

Sony announced that it has shipped at least 10.7 million units of the PS5 during its current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2023, during a CES showcase on Wednesday.

Typically, the number of units shipped is higher than the number of units sold.

Sony’s goal for shipped sales for the year is 18 million units and it has three months left to reach it.

The president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, stated that December was the best-selling month for the PS5, and that increased availability will allow more consumers to purchase the console.

Sony previously announced plans to ship 23 million PlayStation 5 consoles in the next fiscal year starting April 2023, which would put the console ahead of the PS4 during the same stage of its lifecycle.

Sony shipped 3.3 million PS5 units during the 3 months ended September 30, 2022 (FY2022 Q2) which is the same as the same period last year.

Sony said that PS5 sales were going according to plan and that it believed it could still achieve its 18 million sales target. The company manufactured 6.5 million consoles during Q2.
