Following a long run of fourteen years, Swedish Counter-Strike legend Christopher ‘GeT RiGhT’ Alesund has announced his retirement from professional CSGO. The 30-year-old will be moving to stream full-time on Twitch, as he has confirmed in an interview with Dexerto.
GeT_RiGhT is undoubtedly one of the greatest Counter-Strike players of all time, and him calling it quits to the professional scene is certain to have upset millions of his fans worldwide.
Christopher Alesund –
The former Ninjas in Pyjamas star will also be bidding farewell to his long-standing partnership with fellow Counter-Strike legend Patrik ‘f0rest’ Lindberg, which he described as “the biggest highlight” of his career. The duo had been playing competitive CS together since Alesund joined Fnatic in 2009.
Luckily, it seems like GeT_RiGhT won’t be leaving Counter-Strike anytime soon. “I grew up in the scene and I’ll do anything it takes to help it grow,” he said in the interview.
While Alesund’s plans for his upcoming Twitch career is still uncertain, the 2014 major winner will be looking to continue exploring different games like League of Legends or Warzone. Alesund has also confirmed that he’s “not going to become a professional Valorant player.” However, he has claimed that Riot’s shooter holds the potential to overtake CSGO in the future.
