GTA 5 is one of the most popular open-world action-adventure games in the world of modern video games. It was released way back in 2013 but still continues to rock a significant player count to this day.
The multiplayer mode in GTA 5 is known as GTA Online, and it boasts some unique features which can’t be enjoyed in the singleplayer mode. While the online world of GTA is infamous for being home to lots of cheaters and modders, it’s still incredibly fun to play with a group of friends.
Occasionally, the GTA Online servers are seen having various issues which prevent players from joining. If you find yourself in a similar situation, here’s what you should do.
First, identify the actual problem. If the GTA servers are indeed down, chances are that you’ll be stuck in the loading screen for a long time when you attempt to connect to a lobby before eventually getting an error message like “timed out loading player data.”
To check if other players in any part of the world are experiencing similar issues, go to down detector and see the server status. The servers being down will cause an unusually high number of player reports in the website. You can also see a region-specific map on the website, to see if the issue lies in your country only.
If you find the servers are down, then all you can do is wait. Rockstar Games are generally swift to fix server issues in GTA Online, so you’ll probably be able to reconnect to the servers in under a couple of hours, if not minutes.
Some other places you can check for information in the servers are the Rockstar Support twitter, or their official website.
If you find yourself being unable to connect to the GTA 5 servers for a prolonged time, you should double-check your internet connectivity and make sure your computer isn’t causing the problem.
