ESL has announced the seven teams to receive a direct invitation for IEM Katowice 2020.
Among the chose elites, the top 5 teams from current HLTV World Rankings are present. The seven teams include Vitality, 100Thieves, Evil Geniuses, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Virtus Pro, Natus Vincere and Team Liquid. From the 10 confirmed teams so far we will see mousesports, Astralis and Fnatic who booked their places by winning specific events, other than the seven invitees.
Every team from the top 10 rankings are selected except FaZe who will have to go through the European qualifiers before they make an appearance in Poland with six spots still up for the grabs. From the 6 spots, 3 of which are allocated to European qualifiers, 1 for North America, 1 for Asia and the final spot for Oceania qualifiers which will take place between 7th and 14th January.

The $500000 tournament will take place in Katowice, Poland inside the colossal Spodek Arena, and will kick off in late February and run till early March. It goes without saying that IEM Katowice is one of the biggest CSGO events of the year, it might not be a Major but it is right up there.
