Japan to Open Its First Esports High School in Spring

The Coronavirus pandemic indeed forced the Esports prospect on the sidelines right from 2020 where every other opportunity was jeopardized and were forced to settle on a  reschedule for an unforeseeable period. Managing Esports is a massive job when it needs to be monitored alongside your academics and other life choices.

Soon 2022 indeed rekindled the flame as it were before when the strains of COVID-19 weren’t there. Schools, colleges, and universities seem to have now reopened with some additional measures and some of them surprisingly added Esports in their curriculum for those who plan on exploring their options going further in the field of the same.

You may need to sit down but we are here to discuss something which most recently came up and would take you all by storm. You heard it right, hold on but Japan is the first-ever country to open up an Esports High School to cater to the needs of the aspirants who are keen to take up Esports as their expertise.

Known as “Esports Koutou Gakuin”, the institution is located in the middle of downtown’s Shibuya district at a short walkable distance from the station. The Esports high school is powered by combined funding from NTTe-Sports and Japanese pro soccer team Tokyo Verdy’ Esports team who have participated in the former’s seamless development.

The Esports Koutou Gakuin is powered with 40 units of Galleria XA7C-R37 gaming PCs assembled with a fancy combination of the Intel Core i7-11700 and Nvidia GeForce.

The ones who would enroll won’t just venture into video games, but would also follow the conventional Japanese high school curriculum. The Esports high school’s website has listed a plethora of other courses as well ranging from VR creators, Game writers, 3DCG designers, Game designers, special effects creators, and programmers.

The institution also features a “care training space,” where both the staff and students will be able to keep tabs on the latter’s physical and mental health, something which every Esports athlete should look upon.

The Esports high school is set to open its doors in April, after the ongoing spring break.
