Krafton India Esports Bans 47 Esports from BGIS 2024

The official statement released by Krafton India Esports reads, “We are committed to maintaining a fair and competitive environment in the BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA SERIES [BGIS] 2024. It is with regret that we must announce a significant decision affecting the integrity and fairness of the said competition. Team 47 Esports have been officially banned from participating in BGIS 2024 due to violations of the tournament’s Code of Conduct/Ruleset. An investigation confirmed that the team engaged in 6.3.8 activity that directly violated these rules. These actions undermine the sportsmanship, integrity, and fairness that BGIS stands for.”

The specific clause cited in the tournament’s rulebook, 6.3.8, pertains to bribery, explicitly stating that no team member may offer “any gift or cash or other reward toa player, coach, manager, or other Team Member, Tournament Official, the Tournament Organizer, Krafton, or any other person connected with or employed by another Team” that will influence the outcome of a tournament game. The violation of this rule has led to the disqualification of 47 Esports from the tournament, with all their results from the tournament nullified.

This is not a first instance of banning a team, Krafton India Esports has demonstrated a zero-tolerance approach towards breaches of the Code of Conduct/Ruleset throughout BGIS 2024. Prior to the ban on 47 Esports, the organizer had already taken action against a significant number of teams during both the main tournament and THE GRIND stage. From the main tournament itself, Krafton India Esports has banned 16 teams and disqualified 18 teams for various violations.

In addition to the immediate consequences faced by 47 Esports, Krafton India Esports has announced plans for a thorough review to determine if further sanctions are warranted, including potential bans from future events organized by the company.
