Krafton to Implement New BGMI Points System in BGIS 2024

The highly anticipated Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) returned in 2024 with its third edition, promising an exciting journey like its previous editions. With registrations now open, the spotlight shines on the innovative changes introduced by Krafton India, especially with the new BGMI points system.

BGIS 2024 stands as the first official tournament of the BGMI 2024 Esports season and the first tournament since BGMI Pro Series (BMPS) 2023. With a staggering prize pool of ₹2,00,00,000 INR, this year’s event pledges to be bigger, bolder, and more intense than ever before.

Introducing the New BGMI Points System in BGIS 2024

The new BGMI points system marks a departure from conventional scoring methods, which will result in new meta and strategies by the participating teams. This new BGMI points system will inject every match with aggressive gameplay instead of passive one.

Following is the new BGMI points system for BGIS 2024:

  • 1st Place: 10 Points
  • 2nd Place: 6 Points
  • 3rd Place: 5 Points
  • 4th Place: 4 Points
  • 5th Place: 3 Points
  • 6th Place: 2 Points
  • 7th to 8th Place: 1 Point
  • 9th to 16th Place: 0 Points

1 Finish = 1 Point

While kill points remain consistent at one per elimination, the reduced rewards for placement will compel teams to adopt a more aggressive approach. This shift in focus towards securing kills early in the game amplifies the aggression among the teams. Additionally, teams must balance aggressive play with strategy to win the Chicken Dinner to secure both kills and the top spot on the leaderboard.

An interesting thing to note is that in the previous points system, the first rank position points were 1.5x the second rank position points. However, it changes to almost twice with the new BGMI points system in BGIS 2024.
