Studio Sirah, one of India’s leading game developers, revealed that its strategy game inspired by the Mahabharata and Ramayana, Kurukshetra: Ascension, has crossed one million players. Launched in February 2022, it is the country’s first card collection strategy game and the winner of the Google Play Best Indie Game award for 2023.
- Players have played over 1,46,94,510 matches across Story, Duels, Challenges, and Draft modes.
- The most popular hero choice has been Arjuna, with over 38,89,696 matches played.
- The most time spent playing the game by a single player is nearly 2,000 hours.
“Kurukshetra is built to celebrate the Indian Epics and unfold them for modern audiences in a fresh, engaging way,” said co-founder Abhaas Shah. “The critical acclaim and heartfelt love from players worldwide reaffirm our vision to set a new benchmark for quality in Indian gaming and storytelling.”
Current Updates:
- The game is in its 11th season, titled Journey to the Himalayas.
- New additions include a playable hero (Himavat), weapon card (Himasura), and guardian card (Himastra), alongside a Karma Pass with rewards, boosts, and legendary cards.
- A new season is planned for next month, along with another game in development focusing on Indian epics.
