The grand finals of the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2024 saw Gen.G take on Bilibili Gaming in a best-of-five series in Chengdu, China.
Gen.G managed to demolish their opponents while dropping only a single game to finish the series with a comfortable score of 3-1. This series win marks the first international win for Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, who is the team’s primary mid-laner, and the first MSI (Mid-Season Invitational) win for Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, the jungler for Gen.G.
Son “Lehends” Si-woo secured the series MVP for his amazing performances on four different heroes.
While Gen.G looked completely unstoppable during the first two games of the series, Bilibili Gaming managed to strike back in the third game by taking an early lead before securing the map for themselves. The fourth game was an intense back-and-forth showdown between the two teams and was perhaps one of the best games in the entire tournament.
With their victory at the MSI, Gen.G took home a whopping $50,000 in prize money and became the first team to secure a spot at the prestigious 2024 World Championship.
