Today, League of Legends Pro League has officially released the 2024 Summer Split format. LPL is one of the top-tier LoL pro leagues in China and players across the region are excited about the 2024 Summer Split.
Previously, LPL used the single round-robin BO3 format. However, this year they are going to introduce a new format for the upcoming tournament. Without wasting any time, let’s dig into the new format.
LPL 2024 Summer Split Format
The official announcement revealed that the LPL 2024 Summer Split will be carried out in four stages: group draw, fixed group, in-group, and box-out stage.
In the group draw stage, a total of 17 teams will divided into four pools. The separation will be based on their Spring Split performance. Let’s take a look at the four pools:
Pool 1
- BLG
- TES
- JDG
- NIP
Pool 2
- FPX
- WBG
- LNG
- WE
Pool 3
- OMG
- IG
- AL
- LGD
- TT
Pool 4
- RNG
- RA
- EDG
- UP
With the fearless draft style, each group will take part in a double round-robin Bo3 match. The top 9 rated teams advance to Group A, while the bottom two teams in each group are seeded into Group B.
Group A and B will compete in a single round-robin Bo3 match. Teams will compete utilizing the standard “competitive draft” approach at this point. The worst four teams in Group B will be eliminated and their split will end, while the top seven teams in Group A will move on to the playoffs.
In a single-elimination Bo5 format, the matches will take place between:
- 8th place Group A vs 4th place Group B
- 9th place Group A vs 3rd place Group B
- 1st place Group A vs 2nd place Group A
Note: Every game’s winner will advance to the tournament and join the seven other teams.
